Home Page Most programmers are familiar with transporting data by hitting Ctrl-C (or Command-C) to copy to the clipboard, then changing applications and pressing Ctrl-V to paste. But what if you wanted to share a clipboard between two different computers on a network? Sure, you could paste to a file, save the file in a central location, open the file on the other machine, and then highlight the data again and Copy and Paste... Or you could just use a neat little program called CrossClip. CrossClip runs transparently in the background (on each computer) and performs both sending and receiving functions as necessary, which means the data can be sent in either direction between computers. Transporting can be set up to be triggered automatically, or manually via mouse-click from the CrossClip menu (for those times when you don't want every Ctrl-C to be broadcast to all the other CrossClip applications within the network group). There's no fancy compiling necessary, just use the effortless installer. Oh, and did we mention that this works on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux... or even between them on the same network? Cross-platform clipboards, now that's news!

Download Downloads Home Page If you've ever wondered what's going on behind the scenes on your network, then Flame can show you. Bonjour has been described as "no-pain networking". If you've ever used iTunes and seen shared libraries popping up without having to configure anything, then you'll know that it really is painless. That's not to say that it's perfect. If you see someone's sharing their music, how do you see if they're also sharing photos with iPhoto? Just start Flame to see all the computers on the network that are advertising services. (If it can, it'll identify the user of each computer instead of giving you the machine's name.) Disclose the services available from each. You can even delve right into the service record to see the gory details, if you like that sort of thing. Unlike existing browsers, which group by service, Flame groups by the machine they're on. This means that you can see the links between services; "Tom's Music" is being shared by the iChat user "Tom", who also has an iPhoto library, "My Holiday Snaps", and a web server. No need to wonder who's doing what any more.

Home Page MarcoPolo brings location-aware computing to your portable Mac computer. It allows your computer to determine its location through gathering evidence from your environment (evidence sources), using fuzzy-logic and rule-based matching to make an educated guess (rules), and then performing arbitrary actions upon changing location (actions). MarcoPolo is built upon the Mac OS X concept of a "network location". This is a collection of settings for your computer's networking, which allows changing numerous parameters at the same time (Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Network). Using this network location system saves considerable time and effort, but you still have to explicitly switch to the correct location each time. MarcoPolo fills this gap, and extends it to allow a much wider range of location-specific configuration and actions.

When problems are encountered, the daemon can send notifications out to administrative contacts in a variety of different ways (email, instant message, SMS, etc.). Current status information, historical logs, and reports can all be accessed via a web browser.
Home Page Due to the way that most routers are configured, NetBooting is typically constrained within a subnet. This means that if you wanted to NetBoot all the machines in your organization (and I don't mean simultaneously) you would have two choices: - 1. Have your network administrator configure your routers to pass BSDP information along to your NetBoot server or - 2. Maintain a NetBoot server on every subnet of your network. While the first option is the "Right Way" to do NetBooting across subnets, it is poorly documented and often includes political battles that many people would rather not fight. Option 2 is costly and probably not the most efficient use of resources, especially if you only NetBoot your machines once every few months for the purpose of reimaging them. So what is left for those of us that simply want to occasionally NetBoot a bunch of machines scattered across a rather robust but fragmented network? Try NetBoot Across Subnets.
Home Page NetCheck is an OSX native application that provides an array of network monitoring, email alerts, logging, and reporting features. NetCheck not only provides immediate customized alerts, but also provides the historical outage information that we need to work with our business partners on quality service issues using historical patterns seen in our NetCheck logging and reporting. This enables us to identify problems and work issues that otherwise would go unnoticed. The main focus of this application is uptime monitoring of critical devices and applications, along with the features which provide this -- email alerts, logging, and reporting. You can create an EMAIL group for each special interest group and site, then create an ICMP/Port Monitoring entry that associate all devices and applications being monitored with that email group created for the site. This application was written natively in Objective C to be a native OSX application.

Home Page I wanted a simple and fast way to exchange small files, like Word-Documents, Pictures, URLs, etc. iChat and similar tools need much configuration and registering - I wanted a technique that would "just work". I used to use Mac OS X' FileSharing and the DropBox, but I don't get notified, and I have to mount the other user's Home DropBox by hand. Additionally the number of logged in users on Mac OS X Client is limited. Since no tool existed for this purpose, I made my own (as usual) :-)).

Home Page SharePoints is an application or a preference pane that makes it easy to add and delete share points like in the old Finder. In Mac OS X, by default, you are limited to sharing only what is in your public folder in your home directory. This program makes it easy to share any folder. In addition SharePoints also brings back users and groups management to Mac OS X as well as easy configuration of AppleFileServer (AFS) and Samba (SMB) Server properties.
Home Page Sharity is a client for the SMB protocol (Server Message Block), also known as CIFS protocol (Common Internet File System). This is the file-sharing protocol used by Windows, OS/2, Samba and many others. Sharity mounts these servers in your file system. Mounting means that you can open files directly from the server with any application you like, as if they were on a local disk. Other clients (such as smbclient from the Samba suite) provide only an ftp-like interface where you can copy files to and from the share but cannot open them directly.
Home Page Secure messaging, alerts, reminders and file transfers provide full-featured inter- and intra-office communication.
Download Home Page In 1998, Martin Roesch wrote an open source technology called Snort, which he termed a "lightweight" intrusion detection technology in comparison to commercially available systems. Today that moniker doesn't even begin to describe the capabilities that Snort brings to the table as the most widely deployed intrusion prevention technology worldwide. Over the years Snort has evolved into a mature, feature rich technology that has become the de facto standard in intrusion detection and prevention. Recent advances in both the rules language and detection capabilities offer the most flexible and accurate threat detection available, making Snort the "heavyweight" champion of intrusion prevention.
Home Page SOHO Organizer is the official successor to Personal Organizer and Group Organizer and represents a 100% Cocoa rewrite of the former products. This means SOHO Organizer presents a first-class Mac OS X experience complete with all the features Mac OS X users expect: Aqua interface, Unicode compliance, built-in spell checking, Service support, etc. Finally, the true benefit of a complete Cocoa rewrite is that SOHO Organizer is built for the future and can easily accommodate future technologies (think Intel-based Macs). SOHO Organizer makes managing customer relationships from phone calls and notes to appointments and to-dos easy. It embraces and leverages popular Mac OS X technologies and applications instead of trying to replace them. For example, it synchronizes seamlessly with the Address Book and iCal so that users can continue to use them and other applications that rely on their data. Users can thus use Apple's iSync to synchronize their contacts and calendars in SOHO Organizer to cell phones, iPods, Palm handhelds, and even .Mac.

Home Page tcpflow is a program that captures data transmitted as part of TCP connections (flows), and stores the data in a way that is convenient for protocol analysis or debugging. A program like 'tcpdump' shows a summary of packets seen on the wire, but usually doesn't store the data that's actually being transmitted. In contrast, tcpflow reconstructs the actual data streams and stores each flow in a separate file for later analysis.

Home Page Sniffing Problems A Mile Away Same developers, same code, different name. The Ethereal network protocol analyzer has changed its name to Wireshark. Wireshark's powerful features make it the tool of choice for network troubleshooting, protocol development, and education worldwide. Wireshark was written by an international group of networking experts, and is an example of the power of open source. It runs on Windows, Linux, UNIX, and other platforms.
Home Page A very long list of uses for XNmap could be compiled, but we'll just list off a few here: - Network Audits - Security Audits - Rogue Machine Discovery - Backdoor Discovery - Operating System Patch-level Audits Since XNmap provides a GUI for nmap, it can do everything that nmap can do. According to the nmap web site: Nmap ("Network Mapper") is a free open source utility for network exploration or security auditing. It was designed to rapidly scan large networks, although it works fine against single hosts. Nmap uses raw IP packets in novel ways to determine what hosts are available on the network, what services (application name and version) those hosts are offering, what operating systems (and OS versions) they are running, what type of packet filters/firewalls are in use, and dozens of other characteristics.
